I see my patients multiple times a year and so every time I see them is an opportunity for vaccine education.³

As we are seeing patients who are getting older, they’re getting more immunocompromised. I strongly recommend vaccines to our patients because of the high chances of severe disease and having complications and mortality.^4-8

Dr Kuria

Most of us have had patients with multiple comorbid conditions. We are giving them that secondary prevention beyond just prevention from an infection.^9-11

Dr Gupta

Having seen them on the other side of my profession, which is the critical care, when they come in admitted and many times intubated.

On Screen Text: When it comes to vaccination it takes more than one voice...It takes a coordinated, multidisciplinary care team to break through and reach patients.^3,12

We are talking about prevention here. So, I think all of us health providers have a role. And the primary care has a lot of other things on healthcare maintenance, if you will. A lot of other preventive things they have to do.¹³

Dr Kuria

I agree with that but it’s not just on the PCP. It’s actually my responsibility as well.³

And, with your patients hearing that from all the different specialists and their primary care together, hopefully that clicks to them that this is a whole body recommendation, not just a cardiologist, not just your GI system, whatever it is that they’re being seen for. This is an area where we can all own that and be part of, like, a preventive team rather than, like, parsing it off on another specialty.

Dr Gupta

Yes, that’s true. Specialists are not just specialists anymore. It’s not just clinic, it’s not just hospital, it’s not pharmacy. It is a teamwork. It’s all of our responsibilities.
